Conference Schedule
Thanks for a wonderful conference in 2009! We sure had fun, and it was so great seeing all of you!
The 4th annual Intermountain Living History & Re-enactors Conference in 2010 will be held April 30 - May 1, at The American West Heritage Center in Logan, Utah. Since so many families like to volunteer at living history and other musems and do living history re-enactment, we're making sure this will be a family event! We're keeping prices low to so families can afford to come and have a great time—all together. We even have sessions just for kids and families (though children under 8 should be accompanied by an adult).
The goal of the conference is to give museum docents and living history re-enactors—and others who interpret the past to the public—the skills and confidence to interact with others and invite the public to enjoy what you are doing. Shakespeare said, "All the world's a stage," and in a living history context, this is so true. We can't just "live" history; we must live it enthusiastically and use all of our performative skills to excite people about what we do! Workshops will also include skills, trades, and arts from the past, focusing especially on pioneer times and military life of the West.
COST:
- Coming soon.
The Intermountain Living History & Re-enactors Conference takes place in the Intermountain region each year (Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada. Montana), brought to you by the Intermountain Living History Consortium that includes, so far, the American West Heritage Center, This Is The Place Heritage Park, and Utah Heritage Pioneer Arts. If you are an organization, educational institution, or professional re-enactor in the Intermountain West or near this region in some way and would like to join the Intermountain Living History Consortium, it's free. Just contact us!
You do not need to be a member or volunteer at any of these organizations to attend the conference! ANYONE may come! The conference is a service to our volunteers and supporters and our community.
