Welcome
The 5th annual Rocky Mountain Living History Conference in 2011 will be held March 18-19, at This Is The Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. Since so many families like to volunteer at living history and other musems and do living history re-enactment, we're making sure this will be a family event! We're keeping prices low to so families can afford to come and have a great time—all together. We even have sessions just for kids and families (though children under 8 should be accompanied by an adult).
The goal of the conference is to promote, in hands-on fashion, traditional skills and arts to the general public as well as enable museum docents and living history participants and professionals to do their amazing work better. Workshops include skills, trades, and arts from the past, focusing especially on pioneer times and military life of the West. Docent and interpretive skills such as storytelling, hosting, and presentation techniques will also be explored in specific sessions.
The Rocky Mountain Living History Conference takes place in the Intermountain region each year (Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada. Montana), brought to you by the Rocky Mountain Living History Consortium that includes, so far, the American West Heritage Center, This Is The Place Heritage Park, and Utah Heritage Pioneer Arts, the National Oregon/California Trail Center, and the Mormon Pioneer Heritage Area. If you are an organization, educational institution, or professional re-enactor in the Intermountain West or near this region in some way and would like to join the Rocky Mountain Living History Consortium, it's free. Just contact us!
You do not need to be a member or volunteer at any of these organizations to attend the conference! ANYONE may come! The conference is a service to our volunteers and supporters and our community.
